With two games left in the 1967 season, the Twins headed to Fenway with a one game lead over the Red Sox. Champagne and pennant champ shirts were packed in anticipation of a big celebration. Sadly, the Twins lost both games, missing their trip to the World Series.
The shirts never left the box and, as tradition dictates for all inaccurate championship apparel, were shipped to the country of Africa. However, team equipment manager Ray Crump secretly sent one box to Minneapolis where it sat unnoticed in the back of his museum in Dome Souvenirs Plus store. Amazingly, the metrodomedreamscapes.com team was able to acquire these rare shirts in exchange for taking all their stupid surplus store-branded shirts.
